Foundation Auxiliary

The Oneida Healthcare Foundation has been supporting the missions of our hospital and nursing home for over twenty-five years. This is made possible through the receipt of generous donations and bequests. Through wise investments and prudent stewardship, the Foundation is able to provide our physicians and clinicians with the latest technology. The Foundation also invests in the future by granting scholarships to deserving OHC employees who are pursuing advanced nursing degrees and physical therapy careers.

The Vision

In 1972, the Harry T. Field family gave approximately 17 acres of orchard land, located south of Route 5 and Seneca Street to the people of Oneida so that a new hospital could be built on the site. The family wisely restricted the adjacent lands to medically and socially related enterprises. Their wish to benefit future generations was far beyond anyone's vision.

Ultimately, with the remarkable strides in medicine and related technology, and to meet the demands for more and better medical services, a unique medical and community center was established on the orchard hill site. It was named "The Orchard Hill Medical Campus".

The Growth

Today, The Oneida Healthcare Center, The Helen B. Martin Geriatric Center, The Orchard Hill Medical Building, The Tri-Valley YMCA, The Wee Care Center, and four med- ical office buildings make up the Orchard Hill Medical Campus. Moreover, the Oneida Healthcare Center is continuing to reach out by establishing satellite facilities in Canastota, Camden and Oneida.

There has been a tremendous increase in the number of medical doctors from which the people of our area may choose. Additionally, there are many more areas of specialized medicine available locally with the modern technology to support them.

The Excellence

These are all a solid basis for building for the future... your healthcare future, our healthcare future, the healthcare future of all our people.
Without question. The Oneida Healthcare Center is one of our most important area assets. It would be difficult to over-estimate its importance to our area's healthcare and economic well-being.

The Opportunity

The hospital board and administration, along with a number of business and civic leaders have been studying possible ways to improve, sustain and support the Oneida Healthcare Center. The Oneida Healthcare Foundation is committed to the support and improvement of this important community resource and invites you to "Join The Club!"

We Invite You...

...to become a member of the Orchard Hill Club. We need you as a member. Your sup- port is essential if the Oneida Healthcare Center is to provide the quality of services we want for ourselves, our family, our friends and neighbors. Levels of annual giving begin at $250 with additional levels of $500, $1,000, $1,500, $2,000, $2,500 for individuals and families. Some choose to give more, and established businesses, recognizing the importance of our mission, include a generous annual contribution in their plans.

The Orchard Hill Club of the Oneida Healthcare Foundation is established in the belief that there are many good people in this area. Further, we believe that when these good people are made aware of the continuing need to support the Oneida Healthcare Center, they will be willing to make the continuing commitment to do so.

Auxiliary

The Oneida Healthcare Center Auxiliary's purpose is multi faceted. To quote our mission statement "The purpose of this organization shall be to render service to the Oneida Healthcare Facility and to the Extended Care Facility and the patients thereof. And to assist both facilities in promoting the health and welfare of the community." We are also here to serve the needs of the WeeCare Center and the Physical Therapy Department. Each year the auxiliary and the volunteers give in excess of 20,000 hours serving the needs of patients and the community. Our sewing committee sews Teddy Bears for our little patients, Christmas Stockings for the newborns, Comfort Pillows for surgical patients and carry bags for wheelchair patients of the ECF. The knitting committee knits lap robes, baby items for the Gift Shop and hats and booties for newborns. The morning and afternoon coffee service serves coffee to the staff and visitors of the acute care facility. We decorate for the holidays, do employee and doctor recognition and maintain and staff the gift shop, just to name a few of our many activities.

One of our main committees is fundraising. In the past few years some of the items purchased were: a portable cardiac monitor for the ER, oxycimetry for the ICU, chairs for patient rooms, wallpaper and pictures for patient rooms, floor mats and playground equipment for WeeCare, radio's for the patients at ECF, nutritional planners for the kitchens, the pool for the physical therapy department and exercise equipment for OHC's employee wellness program.

The Auxiliary welcomes all new members. For more information, please contact:
